Abstract—The rapid development of the intelligent city promotes the progress of urban informatization and intelligent transportation. The future urban environment has the potential to provide traffic participants with abundant, real-time information in more innovative ways. This research investigates the interactive information displayed in the urban environment in future parking scenarios. After thoroughly reviewing the development of intelligent transportation systems and environment interactive display technology, the design space of environment information surrounding the vehicles is analyzed. With the methods of depth interviews and questionnaire surveys, the user requirements of information in multiple parking scenarios have been analyzed. Based on the results of the user research, an optimized user journey and the storyboards of the parking process are carried out. After that, the animated visual interfaces displayed in the environment surrounding the vehicles during each step of the parking scenarios are designed. A city model of a one-block area and a parking lot model are built to showcase the application effect of the designs. Moreover, researchers have developed a physical prototype to showcase the typical future parking scenarios. This prototype utilizes short focal projection and LED flexible rope lights to display the interaction information on walls and floors. The usability test of the design is carried out to compare the usability of the text and graphic modes of the design and designs displayed in different positions in the environment. The result shows that users prefer text mode design displayed on the walls in parking scenarios. Interaction Design; Parking Scenario; Environment Information; Design Practice |
