The SAE Lighting Systems Group consists of 7Committees that jointly manage over 75 SAE Technical Reports, includingStandards, Recommended Practices and Information Reports in the area of design,performance, materials, and test methods for Automotive, Heavy Duty andEmergency Warning lighting. The structure andoperation of the Lighting Systems Group will be presented and the process todevelop consensus-based Technical Reports will be illustrated. An overview ofcurrent standards development topics in the group will be given. The SAE LightingSystems Group takes an active role in supporting the adoption of AdvancedVehicle Lighting Technologies in North America. In the group a RegulatoryCooperation Task Force was formed to provide a forum to discuss and prepare fora technical dialogue between the SAE Lighting Systems Group and North AmericanGovernment Agencies on vehicle lighting topics of mutual interest.
