Introduction

Right after the introduction of the first fully electronic headlamp of the world in the Audi R8, a creative process with different targets started at the OEMs and the set makers. Styling, CO2 reductions, and light performance compete with each other for the project priority. During 2010 and the beginning of 2011 LED headlamps appeared on the market with halogen performance as well as LED AFS Systems which exceed the Xenon target by using the full flexibility of an electronically, LED driven, beam pattern.

Inside the Audi A8, Audi A7, and Mercedes CLS the high end class of LED headlamps offer the driver vision at night which is always adapted to the driving conditions.
