Design of an LED-based compound optical system for a driving beam system

ThispaperproposesanLED-basedcompoundopticalsystem,whichcanbeinvolvedinthedesignofthe drivingbeamsysteminautomotiveheadlampswithhighsystemefficiencyandlowpowerconsumption. ThecompoundsystemcanmeettherequirementsannouncedintheUNECEregulationAddendum111: RegulationNo.112Revision2.Also,itiscomposedofanonsphericalreflector,acompoundlens,anda two-dimensionaldiverginglens.Usingasingledeviceofhigh-brightnessLEDofmerely7.6W,thespeci- fiedillumination requirements for the driving beam can be achieved. As we haveexpected, on thetest screenatadistanceof25m,thesimulationresults,aswellasthetestingresultsfortheprototype,can reach the illuminance distributionrequirements, including all specified regions and key points.More- over,thiscompoundsystemenjoysthefeaturesofhighcompactness,highenergyefficiency,and feasibility ofmanufacturing.   © 2013 Optical SocietyofAmerica
