Characteristics of RGB Laser Illumination for Automotive Headlamp

Abstract— Laser light source is expected to next generations automotive headlamp. There are 2 procedures to generate for white light, first is blue laser + yellow phosphor” type and second is RGB laser type. Blue laser + yellow phosphor type is already mass-produced.

Merit of RGB laser type is possible to change colors of illumination by output adjustment of RGB each colors power. And RGB laser are composed by not continual spectrum but discrete spectrum. So chromaticity and luminance of visual object is big difference also.

In this report, when use RGB laser for automotive headlamps light source, we will introduce the results of measured changes both visual object luminance and chromaticity.
