New Ideas for Dealing with the Challenge of Headlamp Condensation

AbstractThe expectation of Chinese clients about condensation in automotive lamps is higher and higher in recent years, which causes the condensation issue plays an especially more and more important role in the design and development of automotive lamps. Condensation in automotive lamps is a scientifically challenging topic. It is restricted by the physical principle. The traditional air flow system in lamps can bring the moisture out as well as bring the moisture in. Thus its effect is only to give a chance to remove condensation when the condition outside is feasible for de-condensation. It can’t avoid condensation and remove condensation in all weather conditions.

Considering the high demand that may appear in future, this paper presents some new ideas except the traditional air flow method that might solve the condensation issue in lamps in all weather conditions. These ideas come from and are supported by the basic physical principle. Some concept samples and experiments are done and the results are shown in the paper. The application prospect of these ideas are discussed in the final part in the paper.
