Research on New CNCAP Evaluation and Optimization Design of Automotive Front Lighting

Abstract— the vehicle lighting system is a crucial component enhancing the active safety of automobiles. Especially headlamp, which provides road illumination at night, plays a vital role in ensuring the driving safety. Thus, C-NCAP has updated their assessment criteria for the headlight performance into their safety evaluation in 2024. This article begins by outlining the previous status and the new updates in their evaluation, and then discussing how the updated methods guide the design improvement of front lightings. Subsequently, the article proposes optimization strategies for current front lamps to comply with current evaluation criteria. Finally, the article provides considerations and suggestions regarding the future evaluation.
