【Special Report】The 8th International Forum on Automotive Lighting

The 8^th International Forum onAutomotive Lighting (IFAL) whichis jointly hosted by Institute for ElectricLight Sources of Fudan University, CIES, VLB-CAAM,   Shanghai    Motor VehicleInspection   Certification and Tech Innovation Center Co.,Ltd    and Academy for Engineering & Technology,   Fudan University is hosted online on June 18^thsuccessfully.   

Theforum was attended by distinguished guests from home and abroad. Hundreds ofexperts and scholars from automobile lighting technology and Standardizationorganizations and related multinational enterprises from many countries, aswell as domestic automobile light manufacturers, testing institutions,scientific research institutions and other institutions attended the IFAL2020Forum.

Atthe beginning, Prof. Yandan Lin hosted the opening ceremony, and she invitedMr. Xiaoming Zhu, thevice president of Shanghai MotorVehicle Inspection Certification and Tech Innovation Center Co.,Ltd(SMVIC), andMr. Xaiochuang Xu, the vice president of Academy for Engineering & Technology,Fudan University, to address the forum. They all expressed their regret for theCOVID-19,   and wished   the   meeting a success.

Then,On behalf of the organizing committee, Prof. Yandan Lin released the openingvideo of IFAL. The video reviewed the development of IFAL in the past eightyears, and conveyed the mission and vision of IFAL has always been unchanged.Meanwhile, she expressed thanks to all companies and organizations for theirsupport.

Excellent Report

This IFAL   is   divided   into   five   major   sessions,   namely   Interior   lighting&display   technology,   new   technology   and   method   of   automotive lighting design,lighting standards development & quality control, signaling and marking ofautomated driving, the development of headlamp technology.

Thefirst session is Interior lighting & display technology. There are all 4reports in this session, which respectively introduce the research onautomobile internal display device such as on-board   CMS    system   and    HUD,   and discuss    the   latest   research   on    interior    lighting product design and its lightcolor standard.

Thesecond session is new technology and method of automotive lighting design. Thistopic contains four reports, which respectively introduce the latest products,technologies and methods of thermal design, lamp diagnosis, signal lamp designand atmosphere lamp.

The third   session   is lighting   standards   development &quality   control.   There are   four reports   in this session,   respectively introducing   the development of China's national standards for automotive lighting,   discussing the   simplification of European   automotive   lighting regulations, analyzing the current status of China's electric bicycle lampsquality, and introducing ADB's light distribution characteristics andmeasurement.

The fourth session   is signaling and marking of automated driving.   There are 3reports in this topic, which discuss   the   development    and research ofhuman-vehicle   communication and signal lights in future autonomous driving.

The fifth session is the development of headlamptechnology. There are 4 reports in this session, which introduce the conceptsand related technologies of new lighting lamps such as high-resolution headlamps and smart   headlamps,   and discuss    the intelligent   lighting demands andsolutions in urban areas.   

After the finish of each session, there will bea question Q&A part. The audience will ask their questions and opinions tothe speakers. The speakers will also answer one by one and have more in-depthexchanges with the participants.

This time, IFAL also added a GB4785 hotspot question answering link.   The conference team collected and sorted outthe   technical common problems in advance, and answered questions for everyoneon the spot.

Atthe end of the forum, Prof. Lin, the founder and the chief coordinator of IFAL, on behalf of theInternational Organizing Committee, released the hot topics in the field ofautomotive lighting in 2021. These hot topics also provided new, scientific research,and announced the holding time and theme of IFAL2021, and other information.

ShenZiwei, Secretary General of Vehicle Lamps Branch of China Association ofAutomobile Manufacturers (VLB-CAAM),   delivered   the   closing speech on behalf ofthe organizing committee. He expressed that due to the severe epidemicsituation,   IFAL is also facing new   challenges for this. The organizing committeehas done a lot of detailed work for the successful conference, and   finally decided to change from offline forum to online. Although the situation has changed, IFAL's determination to build anadvanced   lamp technology exchange platform has not changed. On behalf of allparticipants, he expressed his most sincere thanks to all speakers   who came tosupport IFAL this year. At the same time, he also thanked the organizingcommittee for their dedication. Finally, he expressed sincere respect and heartfelt thanks to all the industry   colleagues who participated in the   frontof the screen today.
