Linear aspect application and regulation challenges on DRL function

A day running lamp (DRL) is an automotive lighting device on the front of the vehicle, DRL used to improve road safety and reduce traffic accidents, the effect is not to let the driver can see the road, but to let others know there's a car coming. So the DRL is a signaling function. Another very important role for DRL is to make the vehicle looks cool, improved the distinctiveness of the vehicle.

According to the market survey found, more and more vehicle makers prefer to use linear aspect to show their DRL function.  LED becomes the main light source for DRL to make different style and to reduce the energy.

This presentation will introduce the different optical solutions of linear aspect application on DRL.  With their benefits and drawbacks.  The solutions are light guide, advanced light guide, flat light guide, classic leading edge, and premium leading edge technology. Also will introduce the solutions for the challenges about DRL regulation difference between CCC, ECE, and SAE.

DRL application will be the trend for all market.  Solutions with more efficient and cool style need to be continuously developed.
