Analysis on EMC Problems of Automotive HID Headlamp

Abstract: High intensity discharge (HID) headlamp is apractical active safety technology adopted more and more broadly by thevehicle. However, China Compulsory Certification and bulletin of lamps do nothave related test requirement on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)characteristics of HID headlamps. To investigate the necessity of testing theEMC characteristics of HID headlamps, this thesis assessed 10 samples of HIDheadlamps and compared the electromagnetic radiation amount in their differentparts. The result of the present work implied that one development direction ofrelated standards should be to incorporate the test of EMC characteristics oflamps into headlamp assessment.
