A NEW ERA OF LED FOGLAMPS FOR THE WORLD VALEO MODULAR DESIGN WITH DIRECT LENS ILLUMINATION PROVIDES

Foglamps are not only a great contributor to the style of cars and trucks  but also provide drivers , car occupants and other road users with key benefits in terms of safety and comfort , when driving in adverse conditions ( fog , rain, dust , snow,  unlit and winding roads , not well maintained , full of holes and debris of all kinds , and even animals or pedestrians , etc )

Foglamps make cars more visible to other road users , increase the total amount of light spread on the road surface and  enlarge the field of visibility.

This paper presents a LED FOG light engine, based on direct lens imaging , which  provides up to 350 lm on the road , illuminates road areas , that are , very often,  left dark by the narrower beams of projector headlamps , which is known as the “cornering effect”

Moreover , the pure white light provided perfectly matches the one of LED and Xenon headlamps , with providing extra visibility ,  estimated to  25…30% .

Thanks to its reduced fascia aperture, this LED Fog light engine can be accommodated in all styles of front ends and can also illuminate “side” light guides or reflectors  , providing an exquisite car signature , at a very limited extra cost . Some examples of integration will be also shown.
