Abstract-Light guide bars are believed to have more uniform and comfortable light than LED light bars. So that recently it is widely adopted and designed with auto headlamps, taillights, and interior lights, especially in high-end auto cars to enhance lighting and appearance. As the key characteristics of light guide bars, the lighting uniformity, including luminance and color uniformity, are addressed higher requirements for intended designs (such as BMW angel eyes etc.), which also become the most concern in measurement for its objective characterization. Generally, the light bars are characterized by lunminance meters and colorimeters for luminance and color, which generally accompany with unpredictable errors since their spectral responsivity can not perfectly match to CIE 1931 luminous efficiency and color matching functions. This problem will cause much more serious errors in its color characterization, especially for colorful lights, which will be further analyzed in full paper. To accommodate to the highlight of color uniformity of light bars, a new measurement solution is urgently needed to overcome the above problems. Therefore, the Hyper-spectral Image Radiance Colorimeter (HIRC) measurement solution which combines the advantages of the spectroradiometry and the imaging techniques is proposed. It can obtain both the lumiannce and color distribution of the light bar panel, and the overall or specified area uniformity without any spectral mismatch problems. The full paper will give the detailed description of HIRC and provide the practical measurement examples for reference.
